From Foundations To Driveways, Lake West Excavating Can Dig It!
by Adrienne Brown
Lake of the Ozarks has seen an influx of new residents in the past few years, and as a result, the construction industry has boomed.
Families and individuals itching to get out of the cities find the charm of Lake life irresistible; sales of lots and land have spiked as they build their dream homes. In 2020, only around 12% of real estate transactions were for lots and land.* In 2021, the percentage grew to 16%. In 2022, it was 20%.
Home construction starts with digging, but excavation in the Ozarks isn’t for the faint of heart (one word: rock.) That’s where Lake West Excavating’s expertise shines. Lake West Excavating specializes in new construction pad sites, driveways, and utilities, with turnkey service. Owner Jacob Baker started the company three years ago and work hasn’t slowed down ever since.

A Lake-area native and the son of a general contractor, Baker grew up on construction sites. After working specifically in the excavating business for about four years, Baker decided to go out on his own.
Growing up in Laurie and graduating from Versailles High School, Baker knows the unique Lake terrain and what challenges could lie beneath the surface of any job site. From rock hammer jobs around the Lake to storage facilities in South Camdenton, Lake West Excavating has had a hand in many local projects.
“Quality work sets us apart. We show up and work until the job is done right,” Baker said.
To ensure Lake West Excavating customers get the highest standard of work, Baker or his foreman are always onsite to guarantee the work is done right.
“Everything goes through us,” Baker said. “We are all hands-on. Our attention to detail makes us stand out.” Even with a full schedule, Lake West Excavating customers can expect to speak directly with Baker when they call to start the process.

After getting the call, Baker will set up a date to meet onsite and find out what the job entails. Once the estimate is sent out and agreed on, Lake West Excavating puts the job on the schedule. Baker knows how critical schedules are to construction projects. “We try to take care of everyone. If there is a time-sensitive job, we do our best to make it happen,” he said.
Whether you are building your dream home, business, or putting in a driveway, Lake West Excavating wants customers to get off to a good start. Check out their work on Facebook, or call to set up an appointment at 573-789-9553.
