The Villages at Shawnee Bend began as a vast, nearly inaccessible woodland on the west side of Lake of the Ozarks.

Tom Biggs, along with the help of Dale and Lorraine Perkinson, began the development in the 1990s. I vividly remember surveying the property with my dad long before The Villages even had a name, said Toms son Jonathan. We used to drive around the Lake or use the ferry to reach the property. The construction of the Community Bridge (formerly a toll bridge) in the 1990s changed everything, opening the area for development. Over the next two decades, The Villages grew into one of the Lakes most elite and desirable communities.

Now The Villages at Shawnee Bend is growing again. In partnership with LakeExpo Real Estate, the Biggs family has begun promoting newly available lots both on and off-water — for construction. Those lots have been made available as the developer sees new interest in The Villages since the Community Bridge became free in 2024.

Its the perfect opportunity for anyone seeking an upscale, private neighborhood in which to build. The home sites are a blend of lakefront and off-water, and Biggs says he believes the large, wooded off-water lots will offer a unique appeal for many buyers.
