Are Tesla Cybertrucks a glimpse into the future of boat towing?
by Nathan Bechtold & Janet Dabbs
In the summer of 2024, a new truck began turning heads on roads across the country: the Tesla Cybertruck. Everyone — literally 100% of the population — has an opinion about them. Most people seem to think they’re ugly, and those who do can’t help but rage about them in the comment section, any time they see a photo or video.
One almost wonders if their jarring appearance was the entire point. Maybe it makes up for Tesla’s infamously low marketing budget — $0 in 2020 (though it climbed into the meager millions in 2024). Why pay people to create buzz about your product when it creates its own? Cybertrucks are lighting-rods for attention, and Tesla CEO Elon Musk is Zeus.
Lake of the Ozarks area Cybertruck owner Josh Schrock showcased his 2024 Cybertruck Beast in Versailles at the Sonic Summer Nights: Ozarks Grillin’ & Chillin’ Festival Car & Truck Show. Powered by three electric motors, the $119,990 truck features a stainless-steel body that’s said to be bullet proof. It goes 0 to 60 mph in 2.6 seconds and has a top speed of 131 mph. On a single charge, the truck can travel an estimated 318 miles, and the battery can also be charged to 70% in just over half an hour.
